Phu Yen – Gia Lai Interprovincial Road Upgrade Project
The Phu Yen – Gia Lai Interprovincial Road Upgrade Project is a key transport infrastructure development project aimed at strengthening connectivity between the South Central Coastal region and the Central Highlands, contributing to the completion of the regional transportation network, promoting socio-economic development, and enhancing transportation capacity in the area.
The project is implemented in Dong Xuan District, Phu Yen Province, with the objective of upgrading the existing route to a Grade III mountainous road standard – Group A project classification, with a designed speed of 60 km/h and a total length of more than 62 km.
Upon completion, the upgraded route will significantly improve traffic conditions, shorten travel time, and enhance connectivity between economic centers, industrial zones, agricultural and forestry production areas, as well as trade gateways of the two provinces.
With a total investment value of approximately VND 4,662 billion, the project includes major works such as upgrading road foundations and pavement structures, bridge and culvert systems, drainage facilities, traffic safety systems, and other supporting infrastructure, ensuring compliance with current technical standards for quality, safety, and long-term operation.
Beyond transportation benefits, the project plays an important role in promoting trade, tourism, logistics, and goods transportation between the Central Highlands and the Central Coastal region. At the same time, the route contributes significantly to national defense and security, supporting rescue operations, disaster response, and emergency management, particularly in mountainous and remote areas.
To date, Phase 1 of the project has been completed and several key sections have been put into operation, contributing to improved regional infrastructure connectivity, facilitating local economic development, and gradually completing the inter-regional transportation network in accordance with planned development strategies.
